I spent the last 5 days on a mini vacation at the Oregon coast with my family. Its becoming a tradition for us and this year we thought we would try a new town, Newport. One of our stops while we were there was to visit the Yaquina Head lighthouse. It is Oregon’s tallest lighthouse and it is still working. You can climb the 114 steps to the top, but our little guy wasn’t tall enough, so we stayed on the ground. The day was super windy and we had a little picnic at the lighthouse and then made our way into the interpretive centre for some more (warmer) exploring. I totally recommend stopping in for a visit if you are ever in the area. Its so worth the trip and the view speaks for itself!
This wedding goes to prove to all those anti-Twitter people that Twitter works for your business! I met Corey through Twitter. We followed each other sometime last year and through our tweeting back and forth, Melissa and him booked me to photograph their wedding. When their wedding day arrived, it felt more like I was photographing friends than clients. It was great!
Corey and Melissa were wed on one of the hottest days of the year in Maple Ridge, oh my! I mean hot! 35 degree Celsius hot! The Saturday before, it was a torrential downpour so, there wasn’t too much complaining :)
The day started off with me photographing the ladies getting ready and my second shooter Carol Kerfoot hanging with the guys. We all met up at St Paul’s Lutheran for their beautiful ceremony. It was filled with lots of tears and laughter and love!
After the ceremony we headed to the Maple Ridge ACT for photos. What a great place, lots of urban and gardens. Perfect! The best part was this cement area where we spent a lot of time. Mostly because it was shady and cool and had some really fun architecture.
The kiddos in the wedding party were so awesome! They were pros in fact! This was the flower girl and ring bearer’s second wedding this month! They were great with the heat and all the pictures and I can safely say I didn’t hear one complaint from them! Let’s not even mention how cute they are!
The bridal party head shots were captured by the most excellent Carol!
When I photograph receptions, I am always thankful for the camera in front of my face, because 9 times out of 10 there is always a few tears that I shed. This reception was no different, and then Melissa’s Dad took the stage. He played an audio tape of her Grandfather from Australia who has passed on. On the tape he sang a song specifically for Melissa when she was young. This brought the house down. Everyone was crying, Carol and I included. It was a beautiful treasure.
Thank you Melissa and Corey for such a wonderful day and allowing me to document it for you! Your wedding was fabulous and one that I will remember for a long time. Congratulations!!
Melissa is our beautiful niece. We were unable to attend her wedding to Corey, but seeing these fabulous photos you have taken have made up for it.
Thankyou for this great website which allows people like us from overseas a chance to have a "peep". Lovely work.
Margaret
It is just so wonderful to be able to access photos of Melissa and Corey's wedding from across the other side of the world in Perth, Western Australia. What beautiful photos, a credit to the photographers. My thoughts have been with the newly weds and wish I could have been there. Love also to Maureen and Karl. Rhonda
I titled this post, “At Last” mostly cuz its my Blog and I can. No really, its true! Our family has been waiting for these 2 special people to get hitched for a long……..long……..long time.
This announcement also began with a phone call that brought tears to my eyes. Waaaaay back in January Uncle Brad called me, wanting to know if I was busy on July 31st. I believe I told him only if he was getting married. Turns out Aunty Nancy and him were getting married on what was to be their 11th anniversary of the first time they met. Finally!! There’s been a gorgeous ring on that pretty lady’s finger for a long time! Needless to say I was looking forward to this wedding all year!
A last minute addition of 2 gorgeous flower girls made me look forward to this wedding even more! So on with the pictures! There is a lot! Settle in :)
The wedding was held at the Scandinavian Community Centre in Burnaby. After the ceremony we headed to Deer Lake Park for a quick portait session with the bridal party. Its so beautiful there!
Not too sure who brought this flower girl. Surely she’ll never work in this town again!
Congrats Uncle Brad and Aunty Nancy! Your wedding was elgant and lots of fun!
ps The flower girls are my daughters. Fish faces are not in the flower girl manual.
It all started with a simple email in January, “what are you doing mid-July?” and I started to cry! I have been waiting for this news for a long time! My friend Vickie was pregnant!
I haven’t even had a chance to deliver Vickie’s maternity photos yet and here I am taking pictures of her and John’s gorgeous son! I’m so blessed to photograph such perfection and I couldn’t be happier for John and Vickie! They are 2 people who truly deserve the gift of parenthood.
I’m so happy and excited to share this video with you! Its a compilation of images from the Little N’s cake smash along with some video of the session. The video was shot by Matthew Hawkins from Silver Screen Tots and all I can say is WOW! I love how it turned out and its so exciting when something you dream in your head turns out just the way you imagined! I really love this idea of combining the images from cake smashes with video because it is truly just as cute to watch footage of your little one smashing a cake as it if to look at the pictures!
Matt and I are available for cake smash sessions, if you are interested in a session, please hit the CONTACTME button at the top of the blog and we’d be happy to book a session for you!
Vickie is a special friend of mine! We have been friends with her and her family for many years and in fact, you may reconize Vickie and her hubby John from a pervious blog post. I admit it, when I got an email from Vickie telling me she was going to have a baby, I cried! I am so happy for these two to become parents. I know that they are going to do an excellent job and have been waiting ever so patiently. They are in the home stretch now and I can’t wait to meet their little one!
We were supposed to go to a field tonight, hey, its July! I thought it would be a great evening for some sunset images in a gorgeous field. Well I should have known better because tonight was dark, rainy and cold. Darn. Instead we stuck to some studios images and I am loving the results!
I had the super awesome M family in my studio yesterday! I call them super awesome, because I can. They have been friends of our family for a long time and I was so excited to photograph the beautiful belly of S! In a few more weeks their third baby will arrive and the little one has some very loving big brothers anxiously waiting for him or her!
They boys practiced their baby belly snuggles before their session!
These last 2 are my favs from the session!
Thanks for coming over guys! It was so fun to see you again! I’m glad you thought the session stress and pain free! ;)
Saturday was little N’s 1st birthday! To celebrate, his Mom and big Sissy brought him over for a cake smash session! N is a shy guy so we started off with a couple portraits to get him comfortable. How sweet is this image!!?! I love it so much!! He looks exactly like his Mommy!
N’s big sis was very eager to see what her little brother would do with his cake and of course, so was I. He wasn’t really sure what to do with the cake so we started with tears. I’m use to ending the session in tears, not beginning. But after a quick lesson from Mom, N was curious about his cake and the tasting began! This super cute cupcake cake came from Frostings Cupcakery in Langley.
I love his little tongue sticking out in this one!
Look at those chubby legs!
While there were tears at the beginning and end, I think the middle was very much enjoyed by little N!
Thanks to S and C for bringing N over on Saturday! It was great fun!
Also a thanks to Matthew Hawkins from Silver Screen Tots for coming by and filming the session. I hope to show you all what happens when we combine our talents together!! Its going to be awesome! So stay tuned!
Tomorrow is little E’s first birthday! To celebrate his Mom and Dad brought him over this afternoon for a cake smash session! I say this all the time but I really do love these sessions. They are unpredictable and that’s what makes them so fun! The giant cupcake cake was super cute and E even shared a taste with me! It came from Frosting Cupcakery in Langley!
Now onto the pictures, there are quite a few!!
We started with a couple cute portraits! Look at those gorgeous eyes!
Now onto the cake!!
The cake rolled quite well! E rolled it all over the back drop!
I love this one! Flying cake!
This was the last picture, notice how clean E’s face is! No tasting today :)
What was left of that sweet cake. E smashed it quite nicely!
Thanks M family for coming over today! I hope you enjoy your sneak peaks and have a great birthday party E!!
My Dad loves birds! He has many feeders in his yard and spends hours taking photographs of all the winged creatures that stop by. We were over there the other night sitting out back and were surprised at how closely these beautiful little hummers got to us for their evening snack. If you listen, you can track them and they are pretty loud. Hummingbirds are hard to photograph and its even more difficult to get ever part of them frozen in motion. Here are a few that I managed to take before they tucked in for the night.
